Black Is Tech Virtual Conference 2020

COVID-19 is no match for the Black Is Tech Virtual Conference 2020

Coronavirus has put the world on standstill for several months now with still a lot of uncertainty and little slow down. Earlier this year a number of big tech conferences such as Google I/O, SXSW and Facebook F8 were cancelled due to the global pandemic. Some companies were able to convert their conference to a virtual or online only experience. While, I am deeply saddened this virus has disrupted and taken so many lives, I have found a small silver lining in all of this mess.

Cisco, Black Hat and Adobe all placed their conferences online this year and I have found myself able to attend at least part of these conferences. Not only were the conferences free but with them being held online many sessions have been recorded so you can visit them at a later date. The Black Is Tech Virtual Conference is no exception. This year it is being held online courtesy of Hopin.to from September 22-25 and will feature several big name companies such as Microsoft, MongoDB, Amazon, Twilio and Warner Media just to name a few.

This conference is so needed in today's time because it is important to show that yes, Black people are not only interested in tech but that we have the education and experience to back it up. What I noticed about today's panelists is that all seemed to really be interested in diversity and inclusion and it is not just the latest buzzed they have decided to acquire. Many sessions feature several Black and other people of color in various tech positions.

Registration is required to attend and can be found at eventbrite.com.
